HWUT is working to Implement Hawaii’s first commercial CLT demonstration project and help expedite code adoption by state and local planning departments to allow for future mass timber projects.
Hawai’i is an ideal proving ground for demonstrating treated CLT use because of high Formosan termite presence and stringent building codes requiring pressure treatment of virtually all structural lumber.
