As the largest private landowner in Hawai‘i, Kamehameha Schools has the kuleana to care for more than 364,000 acres of ‘āina across the state. These lands are the legacy of KS founder Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop, whose vision was to improve the capability and well-being of Native Hawaiians through education.
The sustainable stewardship of our ‘āina is essential to Native Hawaiian well-being because land is a seminal source of cultural identity, education, and ‘ohana engagement. Kamehameha Schools is committed to protecting, maintaining, restoring and enhancing the resources on its lands to ensure that they serve Native Hawaiians for generations to come.
